New York’s Standard with unbeatable views - The Standard Hotel in New York
Live the life in the SoHo district of New York: the 18-storey building complex that is The Standard Hotel is supported on two concrete pillars and towers over the High Line, Manhattan's former elevated railroad. The hotel, though made of solid concrete has a particularly aesthetic appearance: its two halves are slightly angled at the centre, giving the building its unique dynamics.
The hotel is part of Andre Balazs’ Standard hotel chain and was designed by Todd Schliemanns of Partnership Architects New York. The retro-futuristic interior design, created by New York interior specialists Roman and Williams, pays homage to the Scandinavian modernists of the sixties and seventies. A deliberate contrast to the solid, gritty style of the surrounding Meatpacking District. The hotel’s rooftop garden is ideal for relaxing and offers fascinating views of the Manhattan skyline and Hudson River. The panoramic view can also be enjoyed from the privacy of the Duravit Starck bath, an elegant, freestanding tub in the bathrooms. Bathing in the lights of the city that never sleeps.
