If the designer and globetrotter Christian Lacroix takes his mind to designing the interior of a hotel in Paris, the result is …? Exactly: elegant, playful and extravagant - and not only the perfect place to spend a night during the Paris Fashion Week.

The novel “Around the World in 80 Days” by Jules Verne was one of the inspiring examples of the creative Frenchman, who gave the 25 hotel rooms the look of the five continents. Guests using a lift travel from America to Asia and reach Europe after a few more steps. Lacroix playfully expressed the visual identity of the continents and used elements from colonial and exploration times, decorating with antique maps, skins and fabrics from around the world. Behind each bed is a historical map of the respective continent, while the design of the other walls is based on stories and traditions of the respective continents. For example, a wall painting in the European rooms shows the kidnapping of the Greek princess Europa by a bull - and thus reminds of the name giver of the continent. Rooms in the African look feature brocade draperies in jewel tones and striking animal prints and bright prints underline biodiversity and the love of nature.

In addition to all the shimmering fabrics, embroideries, exceptional furniture and colorful curiosities, the bathrooms of the hotel feature a real design classic: The toilets from the series Starck 1 Duravit by Philippe Starck set an accent.
